9TH+LINCOLN MEMBERS and COMPOSERS

Tyler Gilmore has been writing and playing music since he was nine years old. He grew up in rural Wyoming, where he discovered music on his mother's upright piano and found inspiration in a number of great teachers in the area. Trumpet performance was his focus through the end of college, and he found his love of writing music soon after.

He is now based in Denver, CO. He is currently pursuing a career in music composition, and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. Though he has never had a steady composition teacher, he has had lessons with Mike Holober, John Hollenbeck, Maria Schneider, Art Lande, Alf Clausen, Jack Smalley, Cuong Vu, and Paul Chihara. He has had music performed by University of Northern Colorado Jazz Lab I, the Henry Mancini Institute Overture Orchestra, the HMI Garage Orchestra, and his own ensembles. Tyler has formed a jazz large ensemble called "The 9th and Lincoln Orchestra" featuring some of Colorado's top jazz performers. The group has made a name for itself as the top progressive composer's orchestra in the region. They have performed to sold out crowds, and feature new music by Tyler and other members of the band regularly. The band has featured a number of well-known performers such as Greg Gisbert, Brad Goode, and Peter Sommer. They perform regularly at Dazzle Restaurant and Lounge in Denver, and will be recording their first CD in the Summer of 2007.
