Ninth+Lincoln is a musical project aiming to marry Denver's finest jazz players with new streams in the world of composition. It appears in a number of instrumentations ranging from eight piece chamber ensemble with vocalist to traditional big band. The ensemble features the finest performers in Colorado's music scene including members of Future Jazz Project, Hamster Theatre, and Jazz Faculty from all of the fine jazz college programs in the region.
Ninth+Lincoln was formed in 2005 by Tyler Gilmore, the leader/conductor/and main composer for the ensemble. Since then the band has steadily refined their sound and music library, focusing more on originals and tending toward a sound as influenced by electronic music and modern classical as standard jazz repertoire. The ensemble has performed regularly at Dazzle Jazz in Denver, at special events for as many as 3,000 people, and at festivals in the rocky mountain region. In 2008 the group performed works by Denver area high school students in a program at the Denver School of the Arts.
A second album is in the works for 2011, featuring chamber jazz instrumentation with special guest trumpeter Cuong Vu.
