CD RELEASE OCTOBER 22, 2006!! - The Chamber Jazz Ensemble's self-titled album, recorded Feb 2006 will be available for purchase and enjoyment October 22, 2006. We have scheduled a CD Release Party for that date at Copa Bar and Grill from 6-9pm. Please come by to hear the band and buy your copy of the CD! The Chamber Jazz Ensemble will also be recording Live Radio Performance on KUT (90.5 FM) Thursday October 19th which will be aried later to promote the CD and the CD Release Party.

Welcome to the website for the Chamber Jazz Ensemble. Composers Wil Swindler and Stephen Smith founded the CJE in 2004 to continue the tradition of Gil Evans' mid-size ensembles in the framework of modern jazz. Serving a style and function unlike that of a "little big band," the group truly is a chamber ensemble seeking a subtle, cool sound that balances between jazz and modern art-music. The unique instrumentation of 3 woodwinds, 2 trumpets, trombone, french horn, and traditional rhythm section, creates a versatile tone pallete from which the group's leader/composers create a vast array of sounds and styles.
